The Spring Clean To Be Lean

Once the balmy weather and pleasant floral aromas arrive, the urge to make your home spic and span absolutely surges.

As you immerse yourself in the big clean-up, you ought to consider cleansing the most important thing of all—you.

Don’t just scrub the cupboard doors, clear out the calorie-filled comfort foods inside.

Here are some tips on how to clean so you can be lean:

Cupboard Cleansing

When you open your cupboard doors, if you see a bounty of cookies, carbo-heavy crackers, sugary snacks and any other foods that are loaded in calories, take the plunge and purge. These foods don’t have the nutrients and vitamins you need, so get rid of them. And keep in mind that if you eliminate the belly bulging snack foods, even when you have cravings for them, you probably won’t act on it because they aren’t there anymore!

Cupboard Replenishing

Once the sinful grub is gone, it’s time to stack up on the nourishing stuff. Try topping up the shelves with tasty and nutritious treats like seeds, whole grain crackers, almonds and dried fruit. For your cooking helpers, spice things up in a healthy way with chili, soy and wasabi.

Fill up the Fridge with Fruits and Veggies

Fresh fruits and veggies are without a doubt, the kings and queens of the fridge. So clean out the couch potato munchies in there and fill ‘er up with an array of seasonal fresh fruits and veggies. In spring, citrus and passionate fruits are in season. Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, as well as asparagus and various herbs, are plentiful and seasonal throughout late spring.

Say No to Soda and Yes to Juicing

Soda is one of the most dangerous enemies to tummy trimming. It’s sugary, high in calories, brutal to your teeth and the caffeine doesn’t help either. While you’re cleaning up, why not swap the soda for superb blends you can create with your Power Juicer Pro? They taste just sweet as the soda and are rich in vitamins, nutrients and fabulous fiber.

Clean Sweep Recipe
1/2 lemon
1 apple
1/2 beet
1 large celery stalk
1/4 cucumber

It is revered as the ‘food of the gods.’

And given its delicious sweetness, tropical scent and healing powers, that description is right on.

Mangos are absolutely marvelous fruits. Brilliantly yellow, orange and red, mangoes look just as majestic as they taste.

Even more importantly, they are loaded with health benefits.

A bounty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are found within this refreshing fruit’s arsenal of nutritious elements.

In addition to Vitamin A, the mango is rich in Vitamin C, which is believed to help support many bodily structures and functions with everything from smoothing your skin and maintaining healthy bones, to healing wounds and battling some types of infections.

Mangos are also an excellent source of the awesome antioxidant beta-carotene, which keeps your eyes, skin, hair, gums and various glands in good, healthy form.

If you’re looking for a great digestive aid, then mangoes can come to the rescue. The juicy fruit has a special enzyme in it with stomach soothing properties.

It also provides a potent boost of energy and is packed with potassium and fiber, the ultimate cleanser for your body.

Sweet Picking and Storing

Choosing the most magnificent mango is a question of touch and smell.

If the scent is sweet and full, then it’s just about ready. If it’s a tad soft when you touch it gently, then it’s likely ripe. While a yellow tinge on the skin is also a sign that it’s ready for picking, red, orange and even green streaks are also fine.

Once you’ve brought home your mangos, keep them on the kitchen counter for a little while. Some extra time at room temperature will do the fruit some good and then follow up with a dose of refrigeration.

The shelf life of a mango is about 1–2 weeks and considering how fantastically flavored they are, you’ll have savored every last drop long before that!

Believe in Yourself
by Jack LaLanne

There is only one person on this earth who can keep you healthy — do you know who it is?

Well, take a good look in the mirror because that special person is YOU!

You are in charge of your body and it’s the most prized possession you have, so take care of it.

I have learned many lessons over my 90 plus years of healthy living, and the most important one of all is to believe in yourself.

Every single day, you need to believe in yourself. Keep telling yourself, I am better than I think, I can do anything. I can and will be healthy, beautiful, youthful and enthusiastic about everything I do, all the time.

Be inspired. Be motivated. Set goals for yourself.

Tell yourself, “I can get rid of that fat before it gets me. I can be motivated to exercise. I can do it no matter what!”

Do you want to know where my inspiration comes from? Well, it all stems from my belief that “anything in life as possible.” I think I have proven that throughout my life.

When I was 40, people said “40 was over the hill”. So I proved them wrong. showing just how strong I was at 40 by swimming from Alcatraz to the mainland with my hands handcuffed. And when I was 60 and people were saying how old that was, I did the same thing again. Only this time, on top of being handcuffed, my feet were shackled to a boat that weighed 1000 pounds!

I have been thinking and acting positively for so many years and I really believe that has been the key to my success.

There is no reason why you should be different.

Think positive and be positive — here is to a great life!
